This week we have been focusing on Comparing and Contrast what life was like for Maori in the past compared to today. Yesterday I read about Joe Hawke and what he did to change the world and why? We had to read two pages about him and what he did for our Tikanga Maori. While reading about him I found out a lot of information about what he did back in the past. I learnt that Joe didn’t have the same last name of his parents and that he died of old age. He sadly pasted on 22 may 2022. As an example what its was like then compared to today,back in the day it was very different because back in the day school was way different school then when they were being rude or not listening they would get whooped with a wooden stick,there setting was different too they had there own desks and chairs in class.And that’s my research on what life was like compared to today.

This term we have been going to tech and we have been doing some activity’s with some of the teachers at tech. Every different tech teacher does one activity for the whole year with the same kids. Tech is at the Te Aratai college in Linwood. How do we get there, good question? We travel by bus. I go to tech with my friends and all the year 7/8 and some of the teachers come. The subjects we have at tech are Cooking, Robotics, Sewing, and Wood works those are all our tech subjects. My subject that I’m in at the moment is Robotics with Mr. Davidson. My favorite thing is at tech is Mrs. Smiths class, shes my favorite because shes kind and helpful. My least favorite thing is Robotics because its hard and difficult and Mr Davidson is mean and not helpful most of the time. I have learnt a lot of things in Robotics such as how to make a car move and to make sure the program is right. If its not it will fail because we have this table and we have to make sure it stays on the table or it will drop on the ground and break so we have to get everything right. How do we get everything right you ask? We have to copy Mr Davidson’s work on the projector we have to get everything right.

This week Monday we had this guy come in and tell us and explain about money.We played this game we had to find some people to pair with to play this game.The game was where you had 160 solar dollars to use on the most expensive or the lest expensive stuff because we were in space in this game so we had to find good things that would be helpful. The first 2 we picked the lest expensive and the last 1 we picked the second most expensive.my favorite thing was were he was very energetic like me.I didn’t enjoy when I wasn’t aloud to talk sadly.What do you know about money?

Yesterday on Tuesday the get wise guy came in again and we talked about budgeting so we played this holiday game so we 1,800 dollars to spend on our holiday to Fiji so we had to get our passport that was 200 dollars but it didn’t come out of 1,800 dollars then we got to pick if we wanted to fly business  class or economy me and Paige picked economy the next options was accommodation me and Paige picked the basic and then there was activities we picked two one was caves the other one was surfing finally the last one was food but there was no choices for the food there also was these enjoyment points where we had to pick one of the choices and it had a certain amount of enjoyment points and the way you had to win was you had to at least have some money left or have exactly use all of your 1,800 dollars and me and Paige got 12 enjoyment points and we yous the exact amount of enjoyment points.

This term we have been looking at the impact of vaping and how it can affect you and I have made a poster of the impact of vaping.Here are some facts I found out this term about vaping 1 it can affect and damage your lungs 2 Vaping is less harmless than smoking but its still not ok. 1 Thing I learnt was that vaping is less harmful than smoking.

Yesterday my class went to Harold The Giraffe and Harold and Jo talked to us about Peer Pressure,Black mailing,Bribing,Reasoning,And how Peer Pressure can be good and bad depending on the situation.We watched this video of some kids after school going to the dairy and this girl Vi was Peer Pressured and blacked mailed into stealing some lollies.This girl grace was the one who was black mailing and Peer Pressuring Vi into stealing.Will she steal?

there was two scene that showed the two sides of it the good and bad. the good scene she told grace “no” to stealing and left with there other friends following.The bad side she gave in and stole two lollies bags which was terrible. The reason why she did steal is because grace said if she did not steal she would’nt be there friend.

I’ve Peer Pressured and Black mailed before by saying if you don’t buy me some lollies I will tell everybody your deepest darkest secret or saying clean my room or I’ll hit you.

Over all i really enjoyed it and had a good time.
